Silver German coins: 2 and 5 marks from the 1930s, are very popular. Some of our clients buy them as part of a numismatic collection, others as an investment of capital (silver). On some of these coins - minted in 1934 and 1935 you can see the building, sometimes also the date "21 Mar 1933". What is this building and what event does this date mean?

This structure, sometimes described by sellers as a "tower", is the garrison church in Potsdam, and the date that the Third Reich once boasted is the day on which - in the church shown on the coin - the meeting of the Reichstag took place.
During that meeting, the then German president, Paul von Hindenburg, entrusted Adolf Hitler - as the leader of the NSDAP - with the task of forming a new government. Potsdam felt the effects of this decision the most in 1945 - during several Allied air raids...

...but that's a completely different story.

Here you will find silver coins with the image of Paul von Hindenburg
and here the "famous" garrison church

Welcome!
